Who we are
Resku is a personal safety application operated by BharatGrid Systems Private Limited, a company incorporated in India, with its registered office at #339, Medallion 68, Sector 68, SAS Nagar, Punjab 160062, India. Questions, requests and grievances about your data: support@bharatgridsystems.com.
The two rules
- Protection is unconditional; visibility is by consent. You choose, per group, who sees your live location and driving score.
- Raw motion-sensor data never leaves your phone. Accelerometer and gyroscope readings are processed on your phone. What reaches our servers in your name is your current location (shared as described below) and outcomes: help alerts, crash alerts once a countdown runs out, check-ins, trips and arrivals, plus Emergency Audio, which you can switch off. Separately, your phone contributes to an anonymous safety map that is never linked to you, and to usage statistics we only look at as totals.
What we store on our servers
- Account: your name, verified phone number and photo.
- Groups: the groups you belong to, invitations, and your sharing choices.
- Location: your most recent location (one current position, replaced as you move). It is visible to the groups you share with and, while a help alert is active, to the people that alert went to.
- Trips and activity: the start, destination, route and times of trips you start; check-ins, pings and arrivals.
- Help and crash alerts: when and where they happened, and who they went to.
- Emergency contacts and medical basics you choose to enter, shared only inside your groups and in an emergency.
- Device push tokens, so alerts can reach your phone.
Emergency Audio (on unless you switch it off)
Emergency Audio is on by default and only works once you allow Resku the microphone. While it is on, whenever you send an SOS yourself, Resku records the sound around you for up to one hour and shares it with the people that SOS went to (your emergency contacts, or your group if you have none), who can listen live and later. It never records for an automatic crash alert, never outside an SOS you sent, and never when the switch is off (You → Protection). Only those people can hear it, only while they are still connected to you, and only inside the app; there is no download. The recording is kept with the SOS until you delete it, and is deleted when you delete your account.
The safety map: coverage and road hazards (anonymous)
So that Resku can warn you before you lose signal (inside a no-signal stretch a help alert, a check-in or your live location can't get out until you're through) and about hazards on your route, every phone contributes to a shared map. It is anonymous by construction.
- What your phone sends. When your connection drops while you're moving and comes back: where (to the nearest ~150 m area), how long and how far the gap lasted, and what the network was doing: Wi-Fi or mobile data, the mobile network type (2G–5G), signal bars and the operator's network code (Android only; iPhones don't share these), and whether the phone had service. In batches, a count of the ~150 m stretches of road you passed through with and without signal. And road hazards: a hard jolt (a likely pothole) or a crash alert, as a coarse map area.
- What it never sends. Your name, phone number, account, device ID or trip; your exact position or your route. Nothing is counted within 400 m of your saved places, or while you're still.
- Telling phones apart without knowing them. Each coverage report carries a code made from a random secret that never leaves your phone and the ~2 km area the report is in, renewed every 180 days. Because it differs in every area, reports can't be strung into a route or tied to you.
- How it's used. An automated model on our own servers weighs everyone's reports together and decides which places are genuinely without signal. No person reviews individual reports, and no third party receives them. The result warns travellers, compares routes, and tells a group when someone's phone has gone quiet in a known no-signal area.
- Retention. Coverage reports are deleted after 180 days and the counts of stretches driven after 7 months; the map keeps only per-area summaries. To stop abuse we count how many reports each account sends per day (just the number, never where).
- Your choices. Because none of it can be linked to you, it can't be looked up or deleted per person and isn't part of your account data. It stops whenever Resku is paused or location is off.
Usage and reliability statistics
To find out what works, what breaks and what to build next, Resku measures how the app is used and how well it runs. We look at this only as totals and groups, never person by person.
- What the app sends: which features and screens you use (by name, never what's on them); when the app opens and for how long; which kinds of notification you open; errors, with names, numbers and other details removed; how fast our servers answer; your app version and the phone's make, model, OS version and language; and the rough area your phone was in when you opened the app (to the nearest ~5 km).
- What it never sends: your messages, contacts, groups, trips, exact location or route, sensor readings, or anything you type.
- Not linked to your name or number. Statistics carry a random ID for the app installation and, once you're signed in, a code made from your account and a secret key only our database holds. Nobody can look a person up by it, including us. Our internal dashboard shows only totals, and its maps show only areas with at least three people (two for emergencies).
- Retention. Raw usage events are deleted after 7 days; after that only totals remain, plus, under that code, which days you used which features. Deleting your account deletes everything under your code.
- Microsoft Clarity. We also use Microsoft Clarity to see how screens are used, as a replay of screens and taps. Text and images are masked on your phone before anything is sent. Microsoft processes this for us under its privacy terms.
What stays on your phone only
Learned places, route corridors, stop history, your own pothole and no-signal maps, driving-score history, impact logs, saved places, and the secret behind your coverage codes.
Service providers
We use these companies to run Resku. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage.
- Google Maps Platform: maps, place search and directions. The places you search for and the routes you ask for are sent to Google.
- Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging and Expo: deliver notifications to your phone.
- MSG91: sends sign-in codes by SMS to your phone number.
- Microsoft Clarity: masked screen-usage replays, as above.
- AirLabs: if you use Flight Mode, the flight number you enter.
We never sell your data. Resku shows no advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Retention, deletion and your rights
- Trips, check-ins, pings and crash detections are deleted after 7 days. Help alerts (SOS) are kept as a record of the emergency, with their Emergency Audio unless you delete it.
- You can see and correct your profile, emergency contacts and sharing choices in the app at any time.
- Delete your account in the app (You → Account → Delete account) to permanently erase your data. If you can't use the app, see reskuapp.com/delete-account.
- For any other request, question or grievance, write to support@bharatgridsystems.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
